About this postcard

The open-air Summer Theatre at the Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, Colorado, is a low, flat-roofed stage with brick side walls and a broad proscenium opening, set among lawns and shade trees. Behind it, partly screened by foliage, stands the brick Gunter Hall gymnasium with tall arched windows. The summer term drew thousands of students and teachers who combined additional study with a summer vacation. The college began in 1889 as the State Normal School, became Colorado State College of Education in 1935, and is now the University of Northern Colorado.
