About this postcard

Dominion Square in downtown Montreal, with the Sun Life Building rising behind the square and the domed St. James Cathedral, now Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral, standing among the surrounding roofs and trees. The square and street level fill the foreground. By the early 1930s Dominion Square was a busy downtown space, ringed by hotels, churches, and office blocks. The Sun Life Building, completed in 1931, was one of Canada's largest office buildings and a symbol of the insurance company's growth.
