A formal sunken garden laid out in geometric beds of red, pink, yellow and white flowers, centered on a long rectangular reflecting pool and a white pergola with a fan-shaped arched trellis at its head, framed by mature trees. Lakeside Park was laid out in the late 19th century on the former Hanna farm property in Fort Wayne, and its sunken garden became a popular local beauty spot and postcard subject in the early 20th century.
