An elevated view looks down on the sunken gardens at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Curving beds of pink, blue, and yellow flowers border pale gravel walks, with a broad green lawn to the right and university buildings along the horizon under a pale sky. McMaster had moved from Toronto to its Hamilton campus in 1930, and the formal grounds became part of the new campus setting. A July 1937 postmark places the view in high summer, when the beds would have been at their fullest.
