Sepia-toned view of sunrise over Lake Crescent, with dark forested mountains flanking the water, low mist on the surface, and a bright sky reflected in the calm lake. Lake Crescent sits in the Olympic Mountains west of Port Angeles, a deep, clear lake ringed by dense forest that was a regular stop for travelers touring the Olympic Peninsula in the 1940s. The sender's note describes sightseeing from Port Angeles, a boat trip to Victoria, and wading in the Pacific, adding "I'd really like to live out here."

Dear Friend: - We are having
a nice time in Wash. We
made several sight seeing
trips. One over into Canada.
Enjoyed the boat ride, and
Victoria is a beautiful city.
We went out to the Pacific
coast Fri. and I got a thrill
wading in the ocean. dreading
going back to home's heat. The
weather here is swell. We
are going back to Sabula and
it won't be long before school
starts. We canned salmon,
apricots + cherries to take back.
I'd really like to live out here.
Love Mrs. J. F. Truesdell
