About this postcard

A paved two-lane highway curves through the Blue Ridge foothills at sunrise, passing a red-roofed roadside building and a couple of vehicles at the bend, with layered mountain ridges fading into a pink and orange sky. The caption places the view on U.S. Highway 70 near Swannanoa, in the mountains between Black Mountain and Asheville, North Carolina. Through the 1930s and 1940s this was the main road through the Swannanoa Valley, and roadside stands and motor courts along it served motorists crossing the Blue Ridge.
