Sunset over a lake with trees and a cottage, circa 1910

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A romantic painted view of a fiery sunset over a calm lake, with dark cloud banks above, a wooded point of tall trees in the center, a small gabled cottage on a rise at right, and a rowboat moored near a low building on the left shore. A rustic wooden fence runs along the foreground bank. The scene is a generic picturesque landscape rather than an identifiable location, rendered in the warm reds, oranges and greens typical of early twentieth-century chromolithograph art cards.
