About this postcard
A lurid sunset sky of yellow, orange, pink and violet clouds stretches over the calm water of the Great Salt Lake, with a dark shoreline and rocky outcrops silhouetted along the bottom and a shadowed pavilion or shelter roof at the right edge. The card's own caption names the scene simply as "Sunset Over Great Salt Lake, Utah." The Great Salt Lake, the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi, was a favorite subject for Utah view cards because of its flat, mirror-like water and its dramatic sunsets over the Oquirrh and Stansbury ranges.
