About this postcard

Waves break in white spray against dark rocky ledges along the Marblehead, Massachusetts, shoreline, with a cluster of shingled and clapboard summer houses on the wooded point above and a small yellow-sailed boat offshore. Marblehead, on Massachusetts Bay north of Boston, was a colonial fishing port that became a popular summer resort and yachting center in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, known for its granite headlands and harbor. The view is typical of the hand-colored lithographic coastal scenes issued in the 1900s–1910s.
