About this postcard
An elevated view looks down on the Triborough Bridge's suspension span over the East River, with its steel truss approach and curving viaducts crossing the marshy islands and shoreline below, and the dense rooftops of Astoria, Queens, filling the foreground. The caption names it as the Triborough Bridge seen from Astoria, New York City. The Triborough Bridge complex, opened in 1936, linked Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens through a suspension span, a lift bridge over the Harlem River and a truss span over the Bronx Kill; it was renamed the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge in 2008.
