About this postcard
Interior view of the Salt Lake Tabernacle, looking toward the great pipe organ above the choir loft, with the curved tiers of seating rising on either side and rows of benches in the foreground. The organ shown is the famed Tabernacle Organ, built by the Austin Organ Company of Hartford, Connecticut, and installed in 1910 to replace the earlier Joseph Ridges instrument; the building itself, completed in 1867, is renowned for its huge unsupported elliptical dome and extraordinary acoustics. The Tabernacle served as the principal meeting hall of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and as home of the Tabernacle Choir.
