About this subject

A close-up view of a bronze plaque mounted on a large granite boulder, with a blue sky above. The plaque commemorates the 1623 founding of the Massachusetts Bay Colony by fishermen and farmers from Dorchester, England, and notes Governor Roger Conant's arbitration in 1625. It was placed by the citizens of Gloucester in 1907.
