Tanjong Bungah Beach curves along a calm bay, with dark foliage in the foreground and tall palms lining the shore at right. Boulders break the shallow water, and a wooded headland and distant hills close the view under a blue sky streaked with clouds. The caption presents Tanjong Bungah as "an extremely famous beach which attracts a great many visitors throughout the year." Tanjong Bungah, now often spelled Tanjung Bungah, lies on Penang's north coast, where sandy coves and sea views made the area a regular stop for mid-century travelers.
