About this postcard

A quiet view across Tashmoo Lake near Vineyard Haven on Martha's Vineyard, with low wooded hills and a grassy foreground crossed by a rail fence, the sky tinted pink at the horizon. Lake Tashmoo is a shallow coastal pond at the north end of Tisbury that opens to Vineyard Sound, and in the early 20th century the surrounding shore was a popular picnic and excursion spot for island visitors arriving by steamer.
