About this postcard

A tall, flat-roofed office tower with a dense grid of windows rises above lower neighboring commercial blocks on a city street with streetcar tracks, as captioned "Tenn. Trust Building, Memphis, Tenn." The Tennessee Trust Building was one of Memphis's early skyscrapers, erected in the first decade of the 1900s and typical of the slender steel-frame office towers that reshaped Southern downtowns in that era. The view shows it towering over older, lower masonry storefronts along the street, with pedestrians and a streetcar visible below.
