Teton Mountains and Jackson Lake, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming, circa 1940

About this postcard

A view across the calm water of Jackson Lake toward the snow-streaked Teton Range, with a single tall conifer standing on the near bank in the foreground. The caption names the scene as the Teton Mountains and Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park, established in 1929 and dominated by peaks rising abruptly more than 7,000 feet above the valley floor. Jackson Lake is the largest natural lake in the park and a centerpiece of its scenery, and the Haynes studio of Yellowstone Park was a long-established publisher of Western national park views.
