About this postcard
Night view of the Texas State Capitol in Austin, its dome and colonnade lit from within and floodlit against a dark sky, with trees, a lawn and monuments in the foreground; the card's own caption names it "The State Capitol at Night, Austin, Texas." The present Renaissance Revival building, designed by Elijah E. Myers, was completed in 1888 of Texas pink granite and is crowned by a dome topped with the Goddess of Liberty statue; it remains the seat of the Texas Legislature. The "2A-H324" imprint is a Curt Teich production number typical of linen-era cards.
