Thanksgiving Greetings: turkey on wishbone, Dorchester, MA, 1913

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A large gobbler turkey stands on a wishbone that arcs across the foreground, with a small red-roofed village and church tower behind it and a lake or bay in the distance. Red ribbon swags and hanging sprays of red berries frame the top and sides, and the printed greeting reads "Thanksgiving Greetings." Lena sent the card to Lillian Currie in Dorchester, Massachusetts, with a short note: she had received Lillian's letter, was sorry to learn of her father's illness, hoped he was feeling better, sent regards to all, and promised to write later. In the 1910s, Thanksgiving postcards were a common way to send holiday wishes and brief family news.
