About this postcard
A Thanksgiving greeting shows a Pilgrim man in a steeple hat and buckle shoes carrying a musket beside a Pilgrim woman in a bonnet and blue skirt holding a red book. A large turkey and clusters of yellow blossoms fill the gold background, and the greeting runs across a diagonal red, white, and blue ribbon. The sender's note to Rosa M. Dean in Chaffey, Wisconsin, mixes holiday wishes with dinner plans. They recall going to Sampson for Thanksgiving dinner the year before and doubt they will get any bird this year. The message is dated Nov. 19, 1910, five days before Thanksgiving, when the holiday was widely observed on the last Thursday of November but not yet fixed nationwide.
