Thanksgiving, two boy chefs with turkey, Boston, MA, 1907

About this postcard

Two boys dressed as chefs in white caps, jackets, and aprons carry a large platter with a roasted turkey and vegetables, an autumn landscape and a building wall behind them. The scene is a Thanksgiving greeting rather than a portrait of a particular family: costumed children presenting the holiday bird were a common postcard motif in the 1900s and 1910s, when Thanksgiving imagery leaned on turkeys, harvest produce, and playful domestic scenes. Mollie sent the card to her cousin Charlotte in Amesbury, Massachusetts, with a short holiday message and love.
