About this postcard

The Bath House and Viaduct at Hot Springs, Virginia, stands behind a broad lawn with curving walks. A long white bath house with a columned portico faces the grounds, and a covered viaduct or colonnade runs along the hillside beside it. Two small figures stroll near a fenced pool, with wooded mountains rising behind the buildings under a pink-and-blue sky. Hot Springs, in Bath County, was a mineral-springs resort in the Allegheny Mountains, and its bath houses served visitors who came to take the waters. The wide lawn and long covered walk suggest a resort laid out for promenades between treatments and the surrounding grounds.
