About this postcard
The view shows the Boar's Head Inn, a large colonial-style complex with a central circular drive, outbuildings, and a small chapel-like structure with a cupola, set before the rolling Blue Ridge foothills. Trees frame the foreground, and a lake or river lies beyond the buildings. The inn advertised itself as a new year-round resort on a 300-acre estate, with the historic Old Mill Room for dining and tennis, swimming, and fishing among the amenities. Sixty air-conditioned rooms and suites were offered in the inn's early years, when the Blue Ridge setting outside Charlottesville drew travelers to a modern resort.
