About this postcard

A tree-lined drive and lawn on the campus of Saint Clara College at Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, with rows of young shade trees bordering a curving road and college buildings glimpsed through the foliage. The school grew out of St. Clara Academy, founded at Sinsinawa Mound in 1846 by the Dominican priest Samuel Mazzuchelli and staffed by the Dominican Sisters; it was chartered as Saint Clara College in the early 1900s and was the forerunner of Edgewood College in Madison. The halftone view shows the grounds much as students knew them in the first decade of the twentieth century.
