The Chateau Lake Louise, a white multi-storey hotel with red-roofed towers, stands at the edge of Lake Louise, its turquoise water stretching in front. A dirt path follows the near shore between evergreens and a rocky bank, with snow-streaked mountains rising behind the hotel. The hotel was one of the Canadian Pacific Railway's mountain resorts, built to draw tourists to the Rockies in the early twentieth century.
