About this postcard
The front pairs a halftone view of the Little Brown Church in the Vale set among trees with printed sheet music for "The Church in the Wildwood" by Dr. William S. Pitts, including four verses and chorus. The back caption states the church at Nashua, Iowa, was organized in 1855 and built 1860-1864, that Pitts sang the song there for the first time in 1864, and that the shrine draws thousands of visitors annually, many for wedding ceremonies; it lists John W. Christy, D.D., as pastor.
