Sepia view of The Elks' Home in Waltham, Massachusetts, a large two-story frame house with a mansard roof and a double-decker porch, set back behind a lawn and mature trees at a street corner. A low stone wall and hitching posts line the road in front.
Elks lodges of the period often kept clubhouses for meetings and social events, and Waltham was then an industrial city known for watchmaking. Cecilia's note mentions a mix-up between the Middlesey (likely Middlesex) and Billerica turnpikes and an 11:30 meeting.
