The Flower Baskets and C.P.R. Building, Victoria, BC, circa 1947

About this postcard

A sunlit street scene in Victoria, British Columbia, with hanging baskets of red and yellow flowers on ornate lamp posts along a wide walkway. The white Canadian Pacific Railway building stands at right, a flag on its roof, with several late-1940s automobiles parked in front; an obelisk monument and trees fill the left side. The C.P.R. building was tied to the railway's steamship and travel business on Victoria's Inner Harbour, and the city's summer flower baskets were already a familiar sight to visitors.
