About this postcard
The card shows the Great White Throne, the massive pale Navajo sandstone monolith at left, rising above the Virgin River valley, with the red, buttressed cliffs of the Great Organ at right and a low green bank of trees and brush along the water in the foreground. Both formations are among the best-known landmarks of Zion National Park in southwestern Utah, set aside as a national park in 1919 and celebrated for its sheer sandstone walls carved by the Virgin River. The view is rendered in the tinted, textured style typical of mid-century American view cards.
