About this postcard

Aerial view of The Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, a sprawling complex of long multi-story wings, a central tower, and a curved drive, set among lawns and trees. Beyond the grounds, residential and commercial blocks spread in a dense grid. The hospital was open to the general public, with accommodations for 462 patients, and operated as a non-profit corporation funded by more than $10,750,000 from the Ford family. Henry Ford's hospital opened in 1915, so the completed complex shown here dates the view to the years after that.
