The kitchen at Scotty's Castle, with a large tiled stove, copper pots and pans, wooden shelves of dishes, and decorative tilework. The room belongs to the winter home that Chicago insurance executive Albert M. Johnson began building in the 1920s in Grapevine Canyon, named for his friend Walter Scott, the prospector and storyteller known as Death Valley Scotty. The tilework and heavy stove suit the house's Spanish Colonial style.
