About this postcard
Black-and-white view inside a cavern, where a broad curtain of drapery-like stalactites hangs from the ceiling above a terraced floor of flowstone; the card names the formation "The Leopard Skins" at Penn's Cave. Penn's Cave, near Centre Hall in central Pennsylvania, is a limestone solution cave noted for being traversed by boat along an underground stream, and it has been operated as a show cave and tourist attraction since the 1880s. Formations such as this were given fanciful names by early guides to help visitors pick out shapes in the rock.
