The Martinique hotel, Washington, D.C., circa 1907

About this postcard

The Martinique, a long multi-story brick building with rows of evenly spaced windows and a dormered wing at one end, is seen from an angle across a lawn. Trees frame the structure at left and right, and a second building is partly visible behind it. Its corner site at Sixteenth and M Streets NW placed it among the large apartment and hotel buildings rising in Washington in the early 1900s.
