About this postcard

The Mosque rises in Richmond's civic center as a brick Moorish Revival auditorium, with an arched entrance, corner domes, and twin minaret-like towers against a blue sky. It faces Monroe Park at Laurel and Main Streets, and it included a 5,000-seat theatre auditorium, banquet and exhibition halls, a swimming pool, roof garden, dining and lounge rooms, bowling alley, hotel accommodations, and a dormitory for young men. Built in 1926-27 as the Acca Temple Shrine mosque, the building served as Richmond's principal civic auditorium and theater. It is now the Altria Theater.
