About this postcard

A view of the Natural Bridge in Rockbridge County, Virginia, a 215-foot limestone arch spanning Cedar Creek. Trees and dense green undergrowth frame the opening, with the stream running beneath the span. George Washington surveyed the site, and Thomas Jefferson bought it in 1774; by the early 20th century it was one of Virginia's best-known scenic attractions and later a National Historic Landmark.
