About this postcard
The card shows the Plaza Church in Los Angeles, a stuccoed adobe mission-style building with a gabled facade, a round window, a central arched doorway, and a bell-crowned campanile at the left, with a palm tree and an arched gateway marked "Old Mission Plaza Church" at the right. Formally La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles, it is the oldest church in the city, begun about 1814 and completed in the early 1820s as part of the El Pueblo de Los Ángeles settlement. It stands near Olvera Street, the historic Mexican marketplace at the heart of the old pueblo, now preserved as a state historic monument.
