The Shore Road by Norburn, Gilbertville, MA, 1909

Card type
Lithograph

About this postcard

A curving shore road runs beside calm water, edged by a seawall of large stones. Horse-drawn carriages and bicyclists travel the road beneath a dense line of trees. The caption identifies the view as "The Shore Road by Norburn," but no town or state is printed, so the shoreline remains unnamed. The mixed traffic of carriages and bicycles fits the period, when both still shared rural roads. A penciled note sends the card as a Valentine from Andrew.
