About this postcard

A large white clapboard hotel with a mansard roof, dormers, and a rooftop observation tower stands among shade trees, an American flag flying from the tower and another from a smaller flagpole at left. Wooded hills of the White Mountains rise behind the building under a pale blue and pink sky. The Sinclair House belonged to the summer hotel trade that made Bethlehem a resort town in the White Mountains, where visitors came for the cool air and the mountain views. A tall, conspicuous building with a lookout tower suited that trade: guests could see the surrounding hills from the roof, and the shaded grounds gave them a place to sit through the warm months.
