About this postcard
A view of the massive brick and stone Stevens Hotel on South Michigan Avenue, framed by trees, with its name lettered across the facade. Built by Ernest J. Stevens and opened in 1927, the Holabird & Roche design was billed as the largest hotel in the world with some 3,000 rooms. After a 1932 receivership it was bought by Conrad Hilton in 1945 and renamed the Conrad Hilton in 1947; the building still operates as the Chicago Hilton. The linen-textured coloring and white border place this printing in the late 1930s to 1940s.
