About this postcard

The North Front of the White House, seen across the lawn with its circular fountain and a ring of red and yellow flowers in bloom. The Executive Mansion at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was designed by James Hoban and first occupied by President John Adams in 1800; it was burned by the British in 1814 and rebuilt, with the north portico added in 1829. The card's pale coloring and woven paper stock are typical of the linen era.
