About this postcard
The view looks north along Third Street toward Market Street, with horse-drawn wagons, delivery carts, and pedestrians filling the roadway between tall commercial blocks. A green-domed tower rises on the left and a mansard-roofed office building closes the vista at center. Third Street was a busy commercial corridor in San Francisco's South of Market district, and the scene shows the pre-1906 city. The card was mailed in December 1906, months after the earthquake and fire that destroyed much of the surrounding district.
