About this postcard

The Thomas Wildey Monument rises from a small fenced, landscaped triangle in the middle of Broadway in Baltimore, a tall column topped by a standing figure, with brick row houses, trees, and a few pedestrians in view. Thomas Wildey (1782-1861) founded the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in North America at Baltimore in 1819, and the fraternal order erected this memorial in the 1860s at Broadway and Fayette Street. By 1907, the monument had been a local landmark for four decades.
