Šítkov water tower and Mánes building, Prague, circa 1930

Card type
Real photo

About this postcard

Elevated view along the Vltava in Prague, with the old Šítkov water tower and the functionalist Mánes building at center. The tower, topped by an onion dome, is a remnant of the former Šítkov mills; the Mánes exhibition hall opened in 1930 for the Mánes Union of Fine Arts. Trams and pedestrians move along the embankment, boats are moored on the river, and Prague Castle sits on the horizon at left.
