The card's whole design is the greeting "TO MY PET" worked in raised, gilded letters with small flower and leaf sprigs, set against a mottled blue and teal marbled ground. Cards of this kind were sold as general affectionate greetings rather than for a specific holiday, and the deep die-pressed gold relief was the selling point. German and American firms produced large quantities of such embossed novelties in the first decade of the 1900s.
Deep die-pressed gold relief lettering and floral sprigs on a printed marbled blue ground; embossed surface; worn corners and light edge scuffing.
Postmark: BEND OREG. FEB 1910 8 PM. Divided-back embossed card with 1¢ green Franklin stamp; light edge wear, day of month illegible in the cancel.
