The view shows the Toledo Museum of Art's classical white stone facade, with a row of columns facing a lawn and roadway and partly screened by mature trees. The museum was founded in 1901 by glass manufacturer Edward Drummond Libbey, and its Monroe Street building, designed by Edward Brodhead Green, opened in 1912. By the 1940s it was a civic landmark in a city known for glassmaking.
