Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo, Ohio, circa 1935

Card type
Linen

About this postcard

The picture shows the Toledo Museum of Art's classical, columned white stone facade seen across a lawn and roadway, partly screened by mature trees. The museum was founded in 1901 by glass manufacturer Edward Drummond Libbey, and this Greek Revival building on Monroe Street, designed by architect Edward Brodhead Green, opened in 1912. The card's linen-era coloring and the museum's park-like setting along Monroe Street match its early-20th-century appearance.
