Tower Fall and Towers, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, circa 1920

About this postcard

A tall, narrow waterfall plunges about 132 feet between towering columnar rock pinnacles of volcanic breccia, with pines clinging to the ledges and a rocky, log-strewn stream bed in the foreground. Tower Fall is on Tower Creek near its confluence with the Yellowstone River in the northeastern section of Yellowstone National Park, and the surrounding spires are among the park's best-known erosional formations. The view was a standard subject for F. Jay Haynes, the Northern Pacific Railroad's official photographer and long-time Yellowstone concessionaire, whose Haynes Picture Shops supplied views of the park to tourists.
