About this postcard
A tall, narrow waterfall drops about 132 feet between columnar rock pinnacles of volcanic breccia, with pines clinging to the ledges and a rocky, log-strewn stream bed in the foreground. Tower Fall and the surrounding spires stand on Tower Creek, a tributary of the Yellowstone River in the park's northeastern section. The printed text notes that the Washburn-Langford Party of 1870 named the fall and creek while camped nearby, and that the Tower Fall Public Automobile Camp lay a short distance away. The 1870 Washburn-Langford party was among the surveys that helped build support for establishing Yellowstone National Park in 1872. The nearby auto camp reflects the early years of motor tourism in the park, after private automobiles were first admitted in 1915.
