The card shows Trinity Church in Staunton, Virginia, a red-brick Gothic Revival building with a square tower, its walls heavily covered in ivy and set behind a grassy lawn with trees. Gravestones at the right edge mark the churchyard. The handwritten note on the front, dated Nov. 4, 1906, is from a schoolteacher who reports "33 pupils on roll" and opens "Good morning, am still among the living, how are you?" It offers a casual glimpse of school life in the Shenandoah Valley.
