About this postcard

The view looks down the center aisle of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, Minnesota, toward a chancel with crimson carpet, plain wooden pews, and an altar draped in red beneath a cross and a three-light stained-glass window. Dark timber trusses support the steep ceiling, and lantern-style fixtures hang along the nave. The white plastered walls and simple Gothic Revival proportions suit a small Upper Midwest parish church. The congregation is Missouri Synod; services were listed at 8:45 and 11:00, with the late service broadcast on KDIO. In January 1973 Pastor Martin Renner and members sent the card to a visitor from Big Stone City, South Dakota, as a follow-up note after a Sunday visit, a common gesture of welcome in small-town congregations.
