Triple Tunnels on Cody Road, Shoshone Canyon, WY, circa 1932

About this postcard

The Cody Road passes through the triple tunnels of Shoshone Canyon, with a stone-arched tunnel mouth in the foreground and the Shoshone River running below near-vertical granite walls. The canyon marks the start of the Yellowstone trip, where eight miles of road along Rattlesnake Mountain were blasted from solid rock and tunnels cut through the granite. The route was the approach from Cody to the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park.
